ImPress Press-On Manicure Review!

Hey ya'll! My first Influenster review!! Well, the first thing out of my Influenster Spring Fever VoxBox that I decided to try was the ImPress Press-On Manicure set*. For those who don't know me well or don't follow me on Instagram, I have recently grown some pretty long nails. They go past my fingertips. See!

I was in between manicures and was too tired to do my own nails, so I hauled off and gave these a try. I got the color Joyride, which is a pretty, shimmer-y dark pink.

The instructions were extremely simple. Find the size appropriate to each of your nails, use the pad that came with the set to clean off your nails, peel off the sticky protector on the back, press onto your nail, and wah-lah! A new manicure! I started looking for each size appropriate for my nails, and that's when the trouble began. The package states that if you can't find a nail to fit your exact nail, go a size smaller. My nails are on the smaller side, but I had the hardest time finding nails to fit my thumb, index, and ring finger! I finally settled on each nail for my fingers, cleaned off my nails with the pad, and began. Applying them only took three minutes. How they looked? Well, you decide for yourself:

I absolutely refuse to file my nails down. They're finally at a length that I like, and besides, I think most nail lengths weren't kept in mind when making these. Some nails were alright (my pinky..that's about it!) and some nails were a pain to even look at. The nails lifted off my natural nails so it wasn't such a pleasure to do normal tasks with (i.e. using the bathroom, washing dishes, getting dressed).

When it was time to take these off, I did it according to the package. ImPress says to pull them from the sides and peel off and if that doesn't work, put acetone around it for a minute and then peel off. Out of all ten nails, two came off by peeling it from the side. The others needed acetone-and longer than a minute! Even after waiting for the acetone it still hurt to take them off. My natural nails were in pain the rest of the night.

MY FINAL VERDICT:
Did I like these: No. They were too short and many of the nails could not fit my fingers.
Would I repurchase: No. I would much rather do my own nails and if I want a quick manicure I could do it on my own. Besides-Sally Hansen's Rockin' Hard reminds me of this color.

EXTRA INFORMATION: Here in Maryland, these retail at $6.49. There is 24 different nails in about five different sizes. If you have little to no nails or like press-ons, these may be for you. I would rather use the nail wraps that have recently became a trend. Depending on the brand you buy, nail wraps are a little cheaper than the press-ons and go completely over your nail.

My First Influenster Box!

Hey everyone! This is my first blog post, so I'm pretty excited! Monday I got my first Influenster box! I got the Spring Fever 2013 VoxBox, and here's what it looks like :

Over the next few weeks you guys will see reviews on these things. I'm really excited to be an Influenster and to try out this awesome stuff!

Chalkboard Flower Nail Tutorial!!

Hey everyone! I'm really excited to show you all my first tutorial! I decided to do my Chalkboard Flower Nails since a few ladies asked me on Instagram to do them. So, without further adieu, let's begin!

Step 1: Paint your nails all black or a dark color. Remember, think old fashioned chalkboards from school!
Step 2: With a small dotting tool, make five dots in a circle on your nail.
Step 3: With a toothpick, drag the center of each dot towards the center of the dots (see the flower being formed?!)
Step 4: Here's where it's up to you and your nail length. Repeat steps 2 and 3, creating atleast four (4) flowers onto your nails. What I chose to do was two white flowers and two colored flowers. You can do whatever colors you feel, but focus on having ONE color per nail.
Step 5: Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the other color polish
Step 6: Dot random colored dots onto your nails to fill in some of the gaps and apply either a rhinestone or a glitter polish into the center of your flowers. Apply a matte top coat and enjoy your nails!

These nails are really simple, yet get many compliments. The more colors you add, the more attractive it can get. Get creative with your colors, this is YOUR chalkboard that you get to flower up (take that teacher who said we can't color on the board! lol) Here's the full view of my chalkboard nails with just blue polishes and rhinestones:

No matter what you do, you really can't go wrong with your flower color choices and you can't go wrong with how your flowers look. Most of mine aren't perfect and they ended up being some of my favorite ones!

Mix and Match Dreamcatcher and Feather

Hey everyone! Today I present an 'experiment' mani. I recently saw MissJenFabulous' youtube video on dreamcatcher nail art and decided to do my own version of it. Here's what happened:

I really like my dreamcatcher, but I think my feather could be better and my glitter would be less...chunky. It really piled up at the tips of my nails, so not too long after I did this design I took it right off. Oh well, always room to fix my errors!

Peacock Feather Nails-Revisited!

Hey everyone! Today I revisited my Peacock Feather nail art from last week. It was driving me crazy that I knew I could do better and I wanted to actually retry it, so that's exactly what I did. Here's the result:

This attempt came out so much better than my first attempt and I'm really excited at my improvement in a short week. This goes to show dedication and sitting to take your time doing your nails really pays off!

Glitzy Glamy Mix and Match

Hi everyone! Today I decided to go completely out of my element and go glitz and glam. If you know me, you know I'm not a big fan of glitter! Since today is the day after Valentine's Day I decided to give this a try. I must say that I'm pretty pleased with these!

The glitter freaked out the camera, so excuse the extreme brightness!

Peacock Feather Nails!

Hey loves! Today I present a super fast manicure of Peacock Feather Nails. It was my first time trying these, and it was so easy and fun!

I will admit, I put too many feathers onto my feather, so I will be revisiting this nail art when I get more time. Today the whole family is headed out to celebrate my dad's birthday and I was tired of having naked nails!

Ikat Nails

Hi everyone! Today I present to you my first attempt at Ikat nails. I've seen it a lot on Instagram and I must admit, it has caught my attention! Here's my attempt at it:

Colors used: Unknown polish from Dots, Unforgettable Moments-Purple Lace, White Striper from Unforgettable Moments, and Black Striper from LA Colors. I love my nails! I wore them to church and one lady thought my nails were nail wraps and another lady said my nails were "awesome"! I'm glad I'm finally getting better at nail art, it's a fun release of extra creativity when I'm not baking :)

Chalkboard Flower Nails

Hey everyone! I'm just getting back from being at a friend's house over the weekend. I had fun, but man oh man did I miss my nail art! I recently got a matte topcoat from Walmart and really wanted to try it out to see what all the hype about matte nails were (I get tired of shiny nails, ya know?!)

The verdict: I can get used to have matte nails every once in awhile! My nails dried faster than my regular top coat which I really liked because I was tired! I named these chalkboard nails because it reminded me of something I would draw on the chalkboard in elementary school..if we had colored chalk!

Shine Bright Like A Diamond!

Hey everyone! Today you get to see (once again) my sisters nails! She's leaving for a few days for Tennessee, so she wanted to get her nails done. The idea was hers, I just executed it!

The colors used: Sinful Colors-Black on Black and LA Colors-Goddess. My sister insister that her mustache ring be included, and since it matched perfectly to her nails, I couldn't possibly say no! Have a safe trip Likah!!

Fishtail Braid Mani!

Hey everyone! Today I present you all my new mani: the Fishtail Braid!

I can't begin to explain how excited I am to show you all this! I wanted to try it after I saw my Instagram friend Workinggirlnails try it. I'm showing my right hand (also known as the Cinderella hand..ya know..does all the work, gets no credit?) because my right hand actually came out better than my left. Doing this type of nail art takes a lot of patience and some concentration. My lines didn't come out perfect, and to be honest I like my little squiggly lines. The colors used are Wet n Wild-Coral, China Glaze-Secret Peri-wink-le, and Wet n Wild-Black Crème. I LALALOVE my fishtail braids!

Sexy Animal Prints!

Hey nail ladies! Today my sister was my nail model once again. She actually asked me to do her nails, and as always I'm more than happy to do so. My sister loves leopard, so it was no surprise when she asked me to do leopard print nails. Here's her mani:

The colors used is Pure Ice-Siren (a seriously beautiful one-coater red!), Wet n Wild-White Crème, and Wet n Wild-Black Crème.

For my nails I decided to give zebra print a try. I am slowly becoming attached to zebra print. I own a zebra print Snuggie and some other zebra print materials, so zebra print nails was worth a shot. I'm not too happy with my results, but here it is:

Colors used: Wet n Wild-White Crème, Wet n Wild-Through the Grapevine, and a black striper from LA colors. Adding the hearts were my sisters idea, and I was fairly happy with my mani once I was finished. I know one thing is for sure, I need to practice my zebra print!

Bows and Polka Dots

Hey everyone! Today's mani is bows and polka dots. I recently got a 15 piece nail art set from an online seller online and pretty much fell in love with the dotting tool. It felt like love at first sight! Here's today's manicure:

The colors used were China Glaze-Secret Peri-wink-le, Wet N Wild-Black Crème, and Fergie Wet N Wild-New Years Kiss. I love how simple this is and how easy it was to use with one dotting tool!

My First (official) Watermarble!

Hey loves! Today I decided to use some of my new polishes and try my hand at watermarble. Honestly, watermarble scared the crap out of me! I decided to "man up" and get it over with. Here's the result:

I really like how my middle finger looked like a butterfly and each nail came out something different. The polishes that I used were China Glaze-Secret Peri-wink-le, Wet N Wild-Black Crème, and Wet N Wild-White Crème. I'm not sure if I would do watermarble again, it used a lot of polish and it was really time consuming! For now, I'll enjoy my once in a lifetime watermarble! :)
